ADMINISTRATORS EXCHANGE CONTRACTS WITH HORNBY FOR SALE OF AIRFIX & HUMBROL
ASSETS
The joint Administrators of Humbrol Ltd, Keith Hinds and Joe McLean, of
Grant Thornton in Leeds announce that contracts have been exchanged to sell
the company's intellectual property, including its brands, to Hornby Plc
("Hornby"), the international models and  collectibles group. Humbrol Ltd,
the owner of the famous modelling brands Airfix and Humbrol and went into
administration on 30 August 2006. The Administrators have been in
negotiations for some weeks with a variety of suppliers in the Humbrol
supply chain including its former subsidiary Heller SA in order to achieve
the sale. Agreement has also been reached with Heller SA, which is also in
the French equivalent ofAdministration, for the release of Airfix moulds and
tooling to Hornby.
Keith Hinds, joint Administrator said: "I am delighted to be able to
announce this successful sale. This transaction provides the best
opportunity to preserve and develop what is an iconic brand."
Frank Martin, Chief Executive of Hornby commented: "We are delighted to have
acquired Airfix and Humbrol, both of which are iconic brands in the hobby
market. The strategic fit with Hornby is excellent. Hornby has similar
distribution channels to Humbrol/Airfix, and we therefore plan to integrate
the business into our existing structure, which gives the business the right
platform and a more streamlined base from which to grow."
So....  good news!!!
